EU Legislation?
15% of workers in the European Union (EU) suffer psychological harassment or “mobbing” (mobbing is "ganging up" by others to harass and intimidate an individual or group) on the job. Study by University of Alcal de Henares, Spain.

The EU working groups failed to agree on adoption of an EU-wide statute against mobbing. Opposition came from business associations backed by governments of Spain, Britain and Italy.

UK Legislation?
Bullying is not specifically mentioned in UK workplace legislation. The Protection from Harassment Act 1997 is the approach using employment legislation. Bullying at school is dealt with in our links to other sites.

Cases include Majrowski v Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Trust. It was held that an employer is vicariously liable for one employee's harassment of another, and Green v DB Group Services (UK) Ltd, where a bullied worker was awarded over £800,000 in damages.
